Free Peel and Stick Wallpaper Samples — Try Before You Buy
The biggest risk in ordering wallpaper online is the gap between screen and wall. Colors shift under different lighting. Patterns read differently at close range versus room distance. Material quality—texture, weight, adhesion—cannot be judged from a photo. That is why ONDECOR offers free wallpaper samples of any design in the collection, shipped for just $2 flat-rate anywhere in the US. It is the simplest way to eliminate uncertainty and commit with confidence.
Every ONDECOR peel and stick wallpaper sample is printed on the same PVC-free, eco-friendly material used for full orders—same inks, same substrate, same adhesive. What you test is exactly what you will receive. Order your free sample today and see the difference quality makes.
Why Samples Matter: Color, Texture, and Adhesion
Screens lie about color. Every monitor renders differently, and the warm glow of an iPhone screen or the cool cast of a laptop display can shift a wallpaper's apparent palette by several shades. A physical sample viewed in your room's actual lighting—morning sun, afternoon shade, evening lamplight—shows the true color. This is especially critical for nuanced tones like sage green, dusty pink, or navy blue, where a slight shift changes the mood entirely.
Texture and weight matter too. ONDECOR's material has a specific hand-feel—smooth, substantial, premium—that photos cannot convey. And for peel and stick wallpaper, adhesion varies by wall surface: freshly painted drywall, textured plaster, and smooth tile all behave differently. A sample lets you verify the bond on your specific walls before ordering enough to cover them. Before and after transformations start with this simple test.
How the Sample Process Works
Step 1: Browse. Explore ONDECOR's thousands of designs across every style—from abstract patterns to bedroom florals to kitchen-friendly designs. Narrow your favorites to two or three options that excite you.
Step 2: Customize (Optional). Want to adjust colors before sampling? Use ONDECOR's free customization—submit your changes, approve the proof, and then order a sample of the customized design. Unlimited revisions means the sample reflects your final vision, not a generic version.
Step 3: Order Samples. Request free samples of your chosen designs. Shipping is $2 flat-rate to any US address. Samples ship within 1–4 business days—the same turnaround as full orders.
Step 4: Test. When samples arrive, tape them to your intended wall. View them at different times of day—morning light, midday, evening lamplight. Stand back and assess pattern scale. Feel the material. Test peel and stick adhesion by pressing a sample to the wall and checking the bond after 24 hours. Proper peel and stick installation techniques maximize adhesion performance.
What to Look For in Your Sample
Color Accuracy. Compare the physical sample to your screen image. The sample is the truth—your screen is the approximation. Check how the colors interact with your existing furniture, flooring, and fixtures. Does the wallpaper complement or clash? A color that looked perfect online may read differently against your specific room elements.
Pattern Scale. A pattern that seemed perfectly proportioned on a website thumbnail may look too large or too small on your actual wall. Hold the sample at arm's length to simulate viewing from across the room. Then examine it up close—you will live with both perspectives daily. Consider whether the pattern scale works with your room's proportions and ceiling height.
Material Quality. Feel the weight and texture of the sample. ONDECOR's PVC-free material has a premium hand-feel that distinguishes it from thin, flimsy alternatives. The smooth, substantial surface cleans easily and resists wear—qualities you can only verify by handling the actual material.
Adhesion Test. For peel and stick samples, press a corner firmly to your wall and leave it for 24 hours. Check that the adhesive holds without curling at edges. If your walls are textured or recently painted (less than 30 days), adhesion may be reduced—the sample reveals this before you commit to a full installation. Troubleshooting adhesion issues starts with understanding your wall surface.
Samples and the Design Decision Process
Professional interior designers never specify wallpaper without seeing a physical sample—and neither should you. The sample stage is where good decisions happen. It is where you discover that the blue you liked online reads as purple in your north-facing living room. Where you realize the pattern scale that seemed bold on screen is actually perfect for your vaulted ceiling. Where you confirm that peel and stick will hold to the smooth plaster in your 1920s apartment.
Ordering multiple samples accelerates this process. Pin three candidates to your wall simultaneously and live with them for a couple of days. One will emerge as the clear winner—it always does. The small investment of $2 per sample prevents the much larger cost of ordering full wallpaper that does not quite work. Browse the full ONDECOR collection to find your candidates, or explore curated selections like accent wall designs and apartment-friendly options.
ONDECOR's Sample Guarantee
Every sample is printed on the same PVC-free, eco-friendly material used for full orders. Same printing process. Same color calibration. Same adhesive. The sample is not a representation—it is a preview cut from the same production line that will produce your final wallpaper. This consistency means what you test is exactly what you will receive when you order the full wall. Free customization applies to samples too—request your color changes, approve the proof, and the sample arrives in your customized palette.
Combined with ONDECOR's free shipping on all US full orders, free exchanges if the installed result does not meet expectations, and 1–4 business day turnaround, the sample program eliminates virtually all risk from the wallpaper purchasing process. Try before you buy—it is the smartest way to wallpaper.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are ONDECOR wallpaper samples really free?
Yes. The wallpaper sample itself is completely free. There is a $2 flat-rate shipping charge for US delivery. You can order samples of any design in the ONDECOR collection.
What size are the wallpaper samples?
Samples are large enough to see the pattern, color accuracy, and material quality. They let you test adhesion on your specific wall surface and view the design in your room's actual lighting.
Can I order multiple samples?
Yes. Order samples of several designs to compare them side by side in your space. This is the best way to narrow down your choice before committing to a full order.
Do samples come in peel and stick format?
Yes. Samples are provided in the same format as the full wallpaper, so you can test the peel and stick adhesion on your actual wall surface.
How long does sample shipping take?
Samples ship within 1–4 business days, the same as full orders. US shipping is $2 flat rate.
Can I customize a design and then order a sample?
Yes. Request your customization first, approve the design proof, and then order a sample of the customized design before committing to the full wall.
What wall surfaces work with peel and stick wallpaper?
Peel and stick works best on smooth, clean, primed surfaces—standard drywall, smooth plaster, glass, and metal. Textured walls, freshly painted surfaces (wait 30 days), and porous surfaces may reduce adhesion. A sample lets you test before committing.
